Window and door replacement in Fort Collins. Sealed tight for Colorado winters.

Energy-efficient replacement windows, new entry doors and patio doors, installed and flashed so they stay tight for decades.

Windows and Doors

What it involves. And when it's the right call.

Old windows let heat out in January and sun in all summer. Original aluminum and early vinyl windows in many Fort Collins homes are drafty, fogged between the panes or hard to open.

We replace windows and exterior doors on their own or as part of a bigger remodel. A window is only as good as its install, so we pay attention to flashing, insulation around the frame, and interior and exterior trim.

New windows or doors make sense when

  • You feel drafts near windows in winter
  • Glass is fogged between the panes
  • Windows are hard to open, lock or keep open
  • Rooms on the west side overheat in the afternoon
  • The front door or patio door sticks, leaks or looks worn

Step by step

How we replace windows and doors. Measured twice, flashed once.

Every step is written into your scope before work starts, and you get a short update with photos each week while it happens.

  1. 1

    Measure every opening

Each window and door is measured and listed in a schedule so the right size is ordered.

  2. 2

    Choose the product

Frame material, glass, color and hardware are chosen and written into the scope.

  3. 3

    Order

Windows are made to size, so ordering happens right after the scope is signed.

  4. 4

    Remove and prep

Old units come out one at a time and the opening is checked for rot.

  5. 5

    Set, flash and insulate

New units are set level, flashed against water and insulated around the frame.

  6. 6

    Trim and clean up

Interior and exterior trim is finished and caulked, and we walk every opening with you.

Local conditions

Windows for the Fort Collins climate

At nearly 5,000 feet, the sun is strong and winter nights are cold. Low-E glass on west- and south-facing walls keeps rooms more comfortable and protects floors and furniture from fading.

Utility customers in Fort Collins and Loveland may qualify for rebates through the Efficiency Works program on qualifying upgrades. Check the current program rules before you order; we can provide product details for the application.

Homes in historic districts may need review before changing windows on the street side. We check that before ordering.

FAQ

Windows and Doors: your questions

Do I need a permit to replace windows?

Many cities in the area require a permit for window replacement, especially if the opening size changes. The contractor confirms with your city or county and pulls it if needed.

Insert or full-frame replacement?

Insert windows fit inside the old frame and cost less. Full-frame replacement removes everything down to the studs and is better when the old frame is rotted or leaking.

Can you match my historic windows?

Wood and clad windows can match older profiles closely. If your home is in a historic district, the street-facing windows may need review first.

New windows often go with a bigger remodel. If siding or interior work is planned, doing them together saves trim work twice.
